Rolled

Sofie worked at Velt vzw as a staff member in Antwerp (Berchem) from 2000 to 2007.

There she worked on projects involving organic agriculture and later on the theme of ornamental gardens. Sofie contributed to the revision of the vegetable garden book, the ornamental garden book and the book on ecological green management.

Her great interest in ecological living has become self-evident and my passion for gardens reignited.

Sofie started the project on happy flowers (ecological and fair cut flowers) in collaboration with Netwerk Bewust Verbruiken, an organization now called 'The Transformists'. You can read more about it here.

Sofie also started a project on organic flower bulbs in 2005. After her departure from Velt in 2007, this flower bulb project came to a standstill at Velt and Sofie took it up again as an independent garden designer and since then she has organized organic flower bulb promotions in collaboration with the best organic bulb grower from the Netherlands. We now do this every year and many customers have many beautiful spring bulbs in their garden.

As an independent garden designer, Sofie is still loyal to the ecological ideas of Velt vzw.

About Sophie

I am Sofie Hoste, born in 1974 (do the math yourself!) and I am happy to inform you that after a long journey with numerous interesting and inspiring wanderings I have returned home to my passion for gardens!

Our vision on gardens

Your garden is the piece of earth that you can transform into your own place: coming home to your own garden. What could be nicer than relaxing in your own beautiful garden during or after a busy day? A beautiful garden invites you to enjoy.

Ons manifest

I design and create ecological gardens because I believe that creating beauty in gardens makes the world a more beautiful place. Would you like to know more about what my biggest motivations are? You can read in my manifesto whether we have a CLICK in the kind of gardens that you and I like.

Why do I design gardens?

This is Sofie's story. Why am I a garden designer? Why do I enjoy what I do so much? What drives me to let people design their own gardens (with my guidance)?
